Hello Fitness Enthusiasts!
We are now moving into the holiday season, and good fitness and nutrition programs are more important than ever! If you are a first time reader, you have found the right place, and check out our other posts on proven exercise methods, the importance of protein, and more. I know many of you lead busy lives, and so do I, but with proper planning, it is easy to incorporate an exercise program into your daily life. This week, I’m here to give you some tips on how to do just that! So without further ado…
Tip 1 - Plan ahead: If you have a busy schedule, plan your workouts around the rest of your life. For example, if you have a demanding job, it may be better to plan workouts for after work, rather than before. This way, you don’t have to rush to the shower after your morning workout, in order to be ready for work on time. Another example would be to pre-plan your meals. Cook many meals at the same time, and save them in containers, where you will have easy access to quality food anytime.
Tip 2 - Shorter, more effective workouts: Instead of doing 4 sets of pull-ups, then 4 sets of bench press, then 4 sets of squats, try doing 4 rounds of one set each, moving from exercise to exercise with no rest in between. You will get your heart rate up (a good way to burn fat!) and you will save all that time you would have spent waiting around in between sets!
Tip 3 - Bodyweight exercises: If you are short on time, skip the gym - use your own body as your training tool! Push-ups, sit-ups, bodyweight squats (or squats with a backpack) can be effective training exercises. For more advanced trainees, you can do handstand push-ups, difficult plank variations, one leg squats, and more. Improvise, and see what works for you. These workouts can be fun as well as save time!
